Dear Parents,
Welcome to the Bradenton Charter School website. Founded in 2000, the school serves grades three (3) through eight (8). The school offers an opportunity for students to experience a small, supportive, intimate school environment without sacrificing academics.
In a recent survey, 93% of respondents stated that they were satisfied to highly satisfied with the school's administration; and 96% of respondents stated that they were satisfied to highly satisfied with their children's teachers. 84% of parents indicated that they are satisfied to highly satisfied with their children's overall academic progress. These ratings are improvements over the prior year's statistics for the same categories.
Our school has a current enrollment capacity of 104 students distributed among five (5) classrooms.
Our teachers are experienced educators who work closely together. Academically, we are a "basics plus" program. This means that at the core, we are grounded in reading, writing and mathematics. We believe that if these core subjects are strong, other learning will follow and allow us to integrate other subjects.
Social studies and science are taught as ways for children to learn about the world/their environment. Various methods of expression are incorporated in lessons. Students are encouraged to problem solve, share what they know with each other and to respect each other. Our school is an environment where students begin to understand that, despite differences and circumstances, all people have value.
We try to think out of the box and make the curriculum interesting and challenging. In addition to oral and written work product, children are allowed opportunities to "create." We believe that it is important that children express their thoughts creatively and that their communications are coherent and relevant to the lessons taught.
The curriculum is designed to get elementary children ready for middle school and middle school children ready for high school. We mix hard work with creativity and the experience is rewarding. Learning is integrated and lessons are planned, not "off the cuff." Our staff enjoys working with children!
