Welcome to Bradenton Charter School
Who We Are
The Bradenton Charter School is an alternative to traditional public schools and stresses “back to basics” academics in a challenging atmosphere. The school maintains a balance of support and structure in order to foster high academic and personal achievement and in order to promote the development of self-esteem, self-confidence and self-worth. The school’s goal is to create enthusiastic lifelong learners, who are equipped to succeed and contribute to society today and in the future. The school emphasizes the individual.
What We Do
The school is an alternative for students who: May not be reaching their full academic potential; Are less willing or proficient at handling the “activities” or large groups of today’s classes; Do better in smaller classes, or function more effectively in smaller educational settings; Come from homes where parents are dissatisfied with traditional schools, and are seeking an alternative placement.
Awards
The school is a recipient of the 2004 Florida School Recognition Award and is honored as one of the top 50 combination schools in Florida for 2005-2006.
How Expensive is Tuition?
The Bradenton Charter School is publicly funded. We follow the guidelines and many of the rules of the Manatee County School System. Since we are publicly funded, WE ARE FREE.
Who We Are Looking For
The school is looking for children who can benefit from its smaller environment. The school is not demanding of parents, except to require their support of the school in its mission to provide a quality education for everyone.
Tell Me More
The school’s class sizes are no more than 22 students per class in grades 3 through 8. The student body ranges from advanced students to remedial. Approximately 50% of the school’s students have one of the
following: IEP, 504, AIP, or AP. The remainder for the school is representative of district student populations. The curriculum is aligned to the Sunshine State Standards, and the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test is given to all children.
What's New?
“Our Expanding World” - A school-wide focus on the world’s peoples, places, environment, geography, arts, foods, and history. The objectives are to promote reading, writing, math, science, and social studies in a “world” context that offers students opportunities to involve themselves in projects that interest them.
“Readers For Life” - A school-wide focus on grade leveled literature. The selections are chosen to inspire students to want to read and range from serious and heartfelt topics to fun and ridiculous.
How We Work
The school uses a team approach to working with students and is broken up into an elementary (grades 3-5) team, a middle school (6th grade) team and a middle/upper school (grades 7 & 8) team. Teams consist of teachers and teacher assistants who work together with materials at various levels (remedial, at grade and enriched). Students are presented with challenging on grade level work, and wherever necessary, are given supports and services.
