Richard Donnelly, J.D.
Principal
In 1981 Mr.
Donnelly graduated from
Boca Ciega High School
in
Saint Petersburg,
Florida.
While there he was a member of the
Interact Club
and participated in the honors
literary program. After high school, he attended
Bard College
in New York State, and received his BA in Political studies
(1985). In 1994 he received his Juris Doctor degree from the
District of Columbia School of
Law in
Washington, D.C.,
and in 1997, he moved to Florida with his wife Britta Rohrer.
In 2003, Richard
Donnelly moved to Bradenton where he has operated the school as
principal since 2000. The parent of a little girl, Mr. Donnelly
loves to work with children and strives to give them an
environment which is personal, supportive, and educationally
enriching.
Mr. Donnelly enjoys
reading books from a wide variety of topics, but especially
loves history and historically based novels. When asked to
describe himself, he states that he is “too willing to make snap
decisions” and needs to “look before leaping.”
As a child, Mr.
Donnelly lived in
Europe
until age fourteen, and was exposed to people from diverse
cultures. To this day, he loves to travel and experience what he
calls “the joys of living.”
Britta Rohrer, M.ed.
Assistant Principal
Ms. Britta has been a member of
the faculty since the school was founded in 2000. She was born
in New York City and enjoys hiking,
World Cup Soccer
and movies like
Monty Python's
“Life of Brian.” She enjoys reading books from a wide variety of
topics and has lived in and visited many places. Like her
husband, she loves to travel and meet people from different
cultures.
In 1986 Ms. Britta graduated from
the Bahrain School in the
Kingdom of Bahrain.
While there she was a
Key Club
member, worked on the School Senate, played volleyball and was a
National Honor
Society student.
After high school, Ms. Britta
attended
Bard College in New
York State, and received her BA in History (1990). In 2000, she
received her Master’s degree in education (M.Ed.) from
Loyola College.
